“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
I know it was only last week I shared a sneak peek at our faux-mantel, but I mentioned that I was waiting for something to arrive.
Well, my tobacco baskets finally arrived from Decor Steals. If you’re not subscribed to Decor Steals, just click on the link and put in your email address. They have some awesome deals that come to your inbox. I’ve ordered several times from them and have always been pleased with their products. A word of advice: if you see something you want, buy it now because once it’s sold out, there’s no telling if or when they will offer it again. Aren’t these baskets awesome! I have some of my pinecones, antler and a few orbs scattered about, but then I asked Mr. Cottage if he could go out and collect a few branches for me last week. If the weather were a tad warmer, I would have loved to spray faux snow or white paint on it, but it’s been bitterly cold here in Michigan and I don’t like doing all that spraying indoors. Even though I love rustic, I had to add a bit of bling, so I added my two mercury glass candlesticks. Just what it needed to perk things up!
I was debating whether to order these baskets or not because I’m really planning on weaving a large tobacco basket and adding it to our wall in the living room. If you follow me, then you know I wove baskets for fine art shows, so I do know how to do this. But the big question is when will I have the time to make one? I have so many projects on my back burner already and for someone who really has patience, I wanted it NOW!
I really wasn’t trying to match with our dining room centerpiece, but it happened anyways. I couldn’t help it; after all I have tons of pinecones and an extra antler laying around. And those orbs are just too pretty not to use for this time of the year!
If you missed my posting on this centerpiece, you can read it here. Just because it’s cold and blah outdoors, doesn’t mean you have to have your indoors as drab and dreary. Winter can be beautiful, if you just look for it!
