It’s time to start living the life you imagined.
If you’re in need of something to keep your pens, pencils, crayons, paintbrushes and markers in, I’ve got a couple of ideas I want to share with you today.
Any type of terra cotta clay pots, jars, or cans are perfect for holding your writing and painting items. The clay pots above were originally painted for me to sell at a craft show, but I ended up bringing them back home and now I’m using them for pens and pencils and the larger pot holds my larger brushes. It really can’t get much simpler than just painting craft paint on a terra cotta pot. After it dries, put a coat of craft varnish over everything. Make sure to paint the inside, as well as the outside; and to keep your items from slipping through the drainage hole on the bottom, I just put a piece of tape across it on the outside of the pot.
Cans are another option. In addition to painting them, they can also be covered with fabric or decorative papers. One of my favorites is using the cans I get from Republic of Tea. FYI, World Market sells this brand and it’s very delicious.
After removing the label, I used Goo Gone to get the sticky residue off. If you’ve never used Goo Gone, it works wonders.
I then took scrapbook paper and spray adhesive and voila…..
Here are a few more terra cotta pots that I had painted. You could even add coffee beans to the inside of the pots to help hold the pencils and pens more upright.
Here are a few more ideas that I think you might like as much as I do:
