When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you want to make a real hit, this cake will do it. I mean, after all, it does have chocolate chips and red cherries!
I really don’t know where this recipe came from, other than I got it from my mother many years ago; and I’ve never seen any recipe like this since. It’s such an easy and quick recipe that’s delicious and super moist.
Just use a bowl and whisk to beat the eggs together.
Add the sugar and beat well, using a wooden spoon.
Add the oil, vanilla, flour, baking soda and cinnamon.
Beat together until everything is well mixed.
Pour in the entire contents of the cherry pie filling and stir until blended.
Add the chopped nuts (I usually buy the package that is already chopped, but if you chop them yourself, don’t make them too fine). Then add in the chocolate chips.
Pour into a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake 1 hour or until cake tester comes out clean.
After the cake has cooled completely, lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar. I forgot to mention, that if you cut the cake into serving pieces, it freezes very well; IF you have any leftovers!
