There’s something about this time of year when I love looking for new inspiration for Christmas decorating. Even though we’ve downsized, I have a real problem when it comes to downsizing too much with Christmas.

So what I have to do is to either rotate items or get rid of one item for every new item that’s purchased or made. So I’m sharing a few new items I purchased recently for some inspiration for you.

I had to purchase this adorable mixed-media that my friend, Melanie Underwood, painted exclusively for Kirklands. I’m so thrilled that her persistance has paid off for her. Isn’t her reindeer adorable? This would be great to hang on the wall or work it into a vignette.
Courtesy of our daughter, I was able to do quite a bit of shopping at my favorite local store a couple weeks ago. She gave me a gift certificate to use at Kennedy’s Floral and Gifts. I bought two of these adorable mugs so you can join me for hot chocolate or tea. There were platters, plates, napkins and more to match our reindeer.
I think these votive candle holders are perfect for the holidays. Between the mercury glass and the gold, they can be used in your centerpiece, on your mantel, clustered on a coffee table, buffet or anywhere else you’d like some extra ambiance.
If you love candles in the winter, you need to play around and buy new scents to try. I’ve heard great things about Illume candles and the fact they’re soy wax with cotton wicks is even better. This scent smells wonderful and I can’t wait to start burning it as soon as we get the tree up.
There are bottle brush trees and then there are these bottle brush trees. The chunky wood base really adds to them and the glitter is stunning.
You won’t believe it, but these trees came from Target and at great prices. They can be worked into any place you might want to add a touch of Christmas cheer.
These little felted mice came from Kennedy’s, but most stores that sell ornaments will have something very similar to these cuties. I make it a point to buy one or two new ornaments every year, and these were at a fabulous price. The mouse in the middle has a special spot I’ve already picked out. You’ll have to come back on Monday, December 4 for our Christmas Tour of Homes with 28 bloggers.
