Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. ~Seneca
I know it’s not officially summer yet, but Memorial Day starts the summer off for many people, including myself. I like to keep things light and airy for the summer months, so I put my old white window frame and picture frame on our mantel again.
And again, I used the beautiful white candlesticks my sister brought back from France with her.
But this time I decided to add the lovely wood star I bought last fall. I had it on display for Christmas, but who says it can only be used for that time of the year.
I just love the chippy look on the window frame and the intricate details on the picture frame. The wood star fits in perfectly with everything.
Then there’s my blue Mason jar. Last summer I placed Dollar Store daffodils in it, and surprisingly they looked almost real. You can view it here.
But when I was in Michael’s a few weeks ago, I saw these “Real Touch” floral stems they were selling. Unlike silk flowers, this peony actually feel like a real flower. Unbelievable!
It’s so real looking, I just wish they could add a peony floral scent to the flower…lol.
With us going to our cottage a lot in the summer, having a “real touch” flower works out much better for us than a real one, even though I prefer real over fake any day!
So here’s our simple and easy mantel for summer. What do you think? Too white? Not enough color? Just right?
As a reminder, I’m in Texas visiting our grandchildren and will return home this week.
I’m sharing at the following parties you can see here.
