Sadie just returned from her first long road trip to Texas and she did fantastic. In case you missed my last post, we had driven to Texas to spend Thanksgiving with our oldest son and his family.
To a dog, motoring isn’t just a way of getting from here to there, it’s also a thrill and an adventure. The mere jingle of car keys is enough to send most any dog into a whimpering, tail-wagging frenzy. ~Jon Winokur
We put Sadie’s bed in the car and she did use it on and off.
We ran into pouring down rain on the first day’s drive. This photo was taken right after I got back in the car from one of several stops we made along the way.
But after that first day, the weather was gorgeous and Sadie enjoyed being up higher where she could occasionally look out the windows. I think she’s taking a little rest in this photo.
We love this photo of Sadie! I can’t tell you how many times she would rest her chin and just stare out the window as we drove to Texas and back home again.
Checking out the pool.
A little sunbathing.
This is a photo I shared in a post I wrote about our grand dogs in Texas. Bella is a Hungarian Vizsla and Brooklyn is a German Shorthaired Pointer. Needless to say, both dogs are much larger than Sadie, but they all got along so well together! Sadie would go up to them and try and get them to play with her. I kid you not, but every time they were all together, I didn’t have my phone or camera handy.
I did leave Sadie with Mr. Cottage while I went with our son and his family to a Christmas tree farm. Lisa, our daughter-in-law, won a half hour of free photo sessions for all of them. While they had their photos taken, I strolled around and took a few photos of this place. Mr. Cottage and I haven’t bought a real Christmas tree in a long time. So to be honest, I don’t know if this is a lot to pay for a Frasier Fir that’s 10.5 feet high or not, but it sure blew me away.
Obviously they had a few cows and I had to go visit them. This one followed me and mooed me while I took it’s photo.
For Thanksgiving, all of Lisa’s immediate family came over and I took family photos of all of them and then we had our little family photo.
Heading back home to Michigan!
