Mr. Cottage and I took a drive along the backroads a couple weeks ago and had to share these colorful photos with you. October is usually when the trees reach their peak colors here in Michigan. It seems like we drive so much on the expressways and in the suburbs and cities. About the only time we take country roads is when we head to the cottage. The crazy part of this story is I’ve never been on this road before, as it heads west from where we live, and it’s only a couple miles from where we live
Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter. ~Carol Bishop Hipps
It’s just a simple two-lane country road that leads almost all the way to Lake Michigan. This might be hard for you to imagine, but our mailing address is in Grand Rapids, but we don’t live in Grand Rapids. Even though you’ve seen the woods behind us, going west from behind the woods is all country.
Let’s start sightseeing…
I love old and/or unusual barns; and this green barn with the red tree looked spectacular. If you love looking at old barns, too, you may want to see this post I wrote over 4 years ago, Calling All Barn Lovers. As you go through these photos, take note that these were all taken on the same street/road that we started from. Isn’t this Victorian house beautiful! The leaves hadn’t turned colors yet, but it was such a beautiful sitting and I just had to share it with you. Actually Mr. Cottage and I have been on a couple mini-trips over the past few weeks. I’ll be sharing these with you in the weeks to come. I hope you enjoyed our little tour today. These are the parties I link to. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.
