I made up my mind to get white slipcovers for our next couch 5 years ago when we moved. I don’t know about you, but I love changing things around just to get a different look. I figured we’re empty nesters and no little kids around to do much damage. And we had Miss Molly with her white hair.

You can read more about me selecting this couch and the white slipcovers here. For fall and winter, I don’t use the slipcover on the couch, but when spring rolls around, I’m more than ready for a change to lighten up the room.
I love that I can give a different look to the room by using different throw pillows. This was last summer’s look.
And this is the look for this spring.
It’s amazing how a few pillows can make a huge change.
But then we adopted Sadie a year ago, and even though we spend a lot of time at the cottage in the summer, it was amazing how much of her black hair and dirt got onto the white slipcovers.
So what I showed you earlier in this post is how the couch looks when we entertain and have company. The photo above is real life for us. I bought some very inexpensive white towels and now I can just throw them in the washer and tuck them back onto the cushions. There’s even a white towel thrown on the back cushion where she often stands up against. Other places on the slipcover, I use a special attachment with the vacuum to pick up her hair.
I know everyone says they take off the slipcovers and wash as needed, but trust me when I say it’s much easier with the towels; and for us it works great.
