I know it’s been awhile since we had a Stories With Sadie, so I thought I’d fill you in on how things have been coming along with our adopted dog. She’s been with us for more than a year and she’s really settling in with us. Knock on wood, we can leave her for a number of hours without having to cage her; we just have to make sure there’s nothing edible or anything that might tempt her to get into trouble. We’re thinking she’s about 2.5 – 3 years old now and plenty active.
“No animal that I know of can consistently be more of a friend and companion than a dog.” ~Stanley Leinwoll
She loves being outside, especially up at our cottage.
She loves to sit and watch everything that goes on around her. Unfortunately, we might never be able to let her off her leash unless she’s in a fenced yard. When she’s outdoors, she’ll focus in on something and totally forget we’re with her and why we took her outdoors in the first place! Last summer she ran after something at the cottage and even calling her name didn’t bring her back. Fortunately, Mr. Cottage caught up with her and now she’s not unleashed until we’re opening the door to go back inside.
She loves playing with her toys, but more than anything she loves being in contact with us. Everything from tummy rubs, sitting on our laps or just resting against us.
I have to sneak her cousins into this post, seeing as she loved playing with them when we were there last November. Bella is the Hungarian Vizsla swimming in the pool and Brooklyn is the German Shorthaired Pointer standing on the edge.
The temperature averaged 97 almost the entire time I was in Texas, so it’s no wonder they loved to cool off in the pool.
Yes, that’s Brooklyn trying to drink the water coming into the pool. Silly dog!
The dogs were constantly wanting to go out and come in all the time, so they finally put a dog door in and now they come in and go out as they please.
That’s Bella sunbathing on the lounge. Nothing is too good for our granddogs! Ha! Ha!
One reason they love going out is because of the birds that fly in and out from the patio. The nest is circled in the upper right and that’s one of the birds flying back in just below the circle.
This isn’t the best photo because I had to lighten it a lot for you to see the nest and the one bird. Both dogs are bird dogs, so it’s no wonder they love chasing them around the yard as the birds fly over head. LOL!
